Specifically, landmark towers give a city added history and prominence that should be experienced by any tourist. For example, if you want an idea of things to do in Marrakech, a good idea would be to visit the Koutoubia Mosque.
The tower in Prague, a medieval astronomical clock, also called the Orloj, is located on the southern wall of Old Town City Hall. The clock has components that date back to its creation in 1490 and is truly a magnificent historical marvel. Although every Prague tourist should make it a part of their stay, there are many other things to do in Prague besides visit the clock tower. The city has plenty enriching experiences available and an abundance of things to see. Take the family to the Prague Zoo, visit the National Museum or pay a visit to the Prague castle. Spend your evenings experiencing the nightlife in Prague by indulging in fine dining and the folkloric culture.
If you take a trip to Marrakech, Morocco, you will be able to see another landmark tower of a different sort. Representing the Islamic country, The Koutoubia Mosque is the largest Mosque in Marrakech, and boasts a beautiful decorated Minaret tower. A visit to the Mosque should definitely be on any visitor’s list of things to do in Marrakech. Other Marrakech attractions include the Djemma el Fna, the Saadian Tomb, or the Majorelle gardens. Marrakech also is home to the biggest market in the country.
New York city is also home to one of the most famous structures in the world. The Empire State building is 102 stories, and is currently the tallest building in New York City and New York State, and is the tallest freestanding structure in the Americas. Although this tower can be seen from several parts of the city, New York City tourists should not go without getting up close or going to the top. New York city is such an energetic, enormous city that there are an infinite number of things to see. To really get acquainted with the city one can take a New York City walking tour through different parts of the city, like Brooklyn, Greenwich Village, or you can even take a ground zero tour.
All of these places offer numerous activities and sights that will make any visit exciting and memorable, but all tourists should really make a point to see their trademark landmark towers that help compose each city’s history and character.
